Tattoo Care

The healing time for your tattoo can vary greatly depending on its size and complexity. Larger tattoos typically require more time to heal due to the increased stress they place on your skin.

Day 1 Upon returning home with your new tattoo, it will be covered with a bandage by your artist. After waiting a few hours, ensure your hands are thoroughly washed and dried with a paper towel before removing the bandage. It’s also wise to consult your artist about the specific waiting period they recommend.

Upon removing the bandage, don’t be alarmed if you notice some fluid leakage from the tattoo. This mixture of blood, plasma, and excess ink is perfectly normal. Expect to see some redness and soreness in the area, which might also feel warm when touched.

With clean hands, gently wash the tattoo using warm water and a fragrance-free soap. Avoid using a washcloth, as it can harbor bacteria. After washing, leave the tattoo uncovered to aid in the healing process.

Days 2 to 3 By now, your tattoo may look a bit duller and cloudier, a sign that your skin is beginning to heal. Scab formation is also part of the healing process.

Continue the routine of washing your tattoo once or twice daily and apply The Cream Soothing Gel afterward. During washing, it’s normal to see some ink washing away, but this is just surplus ink emerging from your skin.

Days 4 to 6 The initial redness should start to subside. Light scabbing over the tattoo is expected, but it’s crucial not to pick at these scabs.

Maintain the regimen of washing your tattoo once or twice a day, followed by applying The Cream Soothing Gel after each wash.

Days 6 to 14 At this stage, the scabs will have hardened and begun to flake away. It’s important not to pick at or forcibly remove them, as they’ll naturally come off on their own. Interfering with the scabs can potentially pull out ink and leave scars.

If you experience itching, gently apply The Cream Soothing Gel several times a day to soothe the skin.

Should your tattoo remain red and swollen, this could indicate an infection. If so, consult your tattoo artist or a healthcare professional.

Days 15 to 30 In this final healing phase, most of the larger flakes and scabs should have disappeared. You might still notice some peeling skin, which will gradually resolve. The tattooed area may appear dry and dull. Start applying The Cream Tattoo Balm to rehydrate the skin until it regains its vibrancy.

Typically, the outer layers of skin heal within two to three weeks. However, the deeper layers may take up to three to four months to fully recover. By the end of the third month, your tattoo should appear as vibrant and vivid as your artist intended.
